3.3 Product
Installation
The installation of the
NMC via the NetWorker
Software Distribution is not supported.
Installation or deinstallation must be performed with root permissions.
One of the packages NetWorker-Server
or NetWorker-Node or
NetWorker-Client is
a prerequisite for the NMC
package.
The installation of NMC
package uses the same installation directory as the NetWorker base
package. It is not possible to choose another directory.
Installation of the NetWorker Management Console does not require any
user interaction.
3.3.1
Accessing the Software
Proceed as follows to
access the packages from a local DVD drive:
- Insert the NetWorker Suite DVD into
the DVD drive.
- Login as root.
- If the CD is not automatically mounted, mount the DVD with
an appropriate command.
- Open the file readme_en.html
in the root directory of the DVD with a web browser to get an
overview of the available software packages and documentation.
Proceed as follows to
access the NetWorker packages from the Fujitsu Siemens Computers
website:
- Select a direcotry or create a temporary directory to
extract the software package from the downloaded file.
- Open the Fujitsu Siemens Computers website at www.fujitsu-siemens.com/networker.
Follow the link NetWorker backup solution and then enter the download
section of the desired operating system.
- Select the NetWorker package and download the
corresponding file to the temporary directory.
- Change to the directory which you used as download
destination.
- Log in as root.
- Solaris systems: Uncompress the downloaded file. To
uncompress the package, enter the following command:
gzip -d SMAWnwnmc.V34A10*.sparc.pkg.gz
Verification of the
package signature (optional):
The software package contains a signature to give proof of the package
integrity. The public key required for the verification of this
signature is supplied on the DVD in the file
products/FSC_NetWorker_Development_0A1F84B5_pub.asc.
Alternatively the public key may be downloaded from the
Fujitsu Siemens Computers web site
www.fujitsu-siemens.com/networker. Navigate
to the correspondent product page, follow the link to the download area
and select
NetWorker
Signature.
The fingerprint of the key is:
0B22 D1C4 1742 DF2E A592 CD82 4FC6 B2DC 0A1F 84B5
Verify the package signature on Linux systems as follows:
- Import the key into the rpm data base (required only once):
# rpm --import
FSC_NetWorker_Development_0A1F84B5_pub.asc
- Verify the package signature, sample:
# rpm --checksig
nsrnmc-3.4A10-01.i386.rpm
If the key has not yet been imported, the following warning is
displayed during package installation:
warning: <Paket-Name>: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY,
key ID 0a1f84b5
Regardless of this warning the installation is successful.
The installation completes without any verification related message, if
the key has been imported via
rpm
--import <file> into the rpm data
base.
The signature of the Solaris packages may be verified with any OpenPGP
compliant encryption software. The concrete verification procedure
depends on the particular software.
3.3.2

Updateinstallation
An update installation
requires to deinstall the currently installed NMC package first. All
configuration data is preserved.
Note: Before
the package is removed, it is recommended to backup the NMC. Because
there might be irreversible changes with the new version. The backup is
done with the command savepsm.sh.
During setup of the NetWorker Server, which is used to
backup NMC, this is added automatically to the appropriate client
resource. A savegroup must be assigned to the client. The group must be
started to back up the NMC database.
