About the NetWorker Fast Start Product
NetWorker Fast
Start is a solution for backup and recovery, designed to simplify
licensing, installation, and configuration. NetWorker Fast Start
prepackages the components to back up Windows and Linux-based
environments, including up to five NetWorker Modules for applications
such as Oracle, MS Exchange Server, and MS SQL Server, and up to 20
clients. It also allows customers to
use disk (b2d), CentricStor, EMC Disk Library (EDL) or a tape jukebox
as backup
targets. The use of NetWorker clients on other platforms (e.g. Solaris)
is possible for filesystem backups.
The NetWorker Fast Start software is delivered on the NetWorker Suite
V7 DVD and is also distributed as a downloadable
archive file from the Fujitsu Siemens Computers web site.
It is possible to add other NetWorker licenses to the NetWorker Fast
Start license.
The NetWorker product has the following major components:

for all NetWorker servers and clients. Multiple users can access the
Console server concurrently from different browser sessions. A computer
that hosts the web-enabled browser can also be a NetWorker
client, server, or storage node.

in the root directory of the DVD with a web browser to get an
overview of the available software packages and documentation.
- Select a directory or create a temporary directory to
copy the software package.
- Copy the files
<root
directory of the DVD>products/FSC_NetWorker_Fast_Start.74SP3.tar.gz
and
<root
directory of the DVD>products/FSC_NetWorker_Fast_Start.74SP3.gz.sig
to a
temporary directory.
Proceed as follows to
access the NetWorker packages from the Fujitsu Siemens Computers
website:
- Select a directory or create a temporary directory to
extract the software package from the downloaded file.
- Open the Fujitsu Siemens Computers website at www.fujitsu-siemens.com/networker.
Follow the link NetWorker backup solution and then enter the download
section for Linux.
- Select the NetWorker Fast Start archive and the
correspondent signature file and download the
corresponding file to the temporary directory.
Proceed as follows to uncompress and extract the software:
- Change to the directory which you used as destination.
- Log in as root.
- Check the integrity of the archive by verifying its

tar -xvf FSC_NetWorker_Fast_Start.74SP3.tar
Verification of the
package signature (optional):
An
external signature file is provided to give proof of the
integrity of the downloaded or copied archive. The public key required
for the verification of this
signature is supplied on the DVD in the file products/FSC_NetWorker_Development_0A1F84B5_pub.asc.
Alternatively the public key may be downloaded from the
Fujitsu Siemens Computers web site www.fujitsu-siemens.com/networker. Navigate
to the correspondent product page, follow the link to the download area
and select NetWorker
Signature.
The fingerprint of the key is:
0B22 D1C4 1742 DF2E A592 CD82 4FC6 B2DC 0A1F 84B5
You may
verify the signature with any encryption software, which supports the
OpenPGP standard (e.g. GnuPG). Refer to the documentation of your
encryption software for details.
The rpm-packages included in the Fast Start archive are signed with the
same key. During the Fast Start installation and configuration process
this key is automatically imported into your RPM database. So later
update or upgrade installations of single packages can take advantage
of the rpm package verification methods.
